the State of the Art
In this talk I will present data from our meta-analysis (Donolato et al., forthcoming) that investigated language interventions across a range of neurodevelopmental conditions, including DLD, autism, and intellectual disabilities.
The talk will focus on common approaches to supporting language development, and will outline key challenges for the field, including issues around publication bias, dosage, implementation, and the need for support post-intervention. I will outline potential ways to advance the field, including new approaches to single case design, and the possibility of ‘cross-training’ different developmental skills to maximise the impact of language intervention.
Throughout this talk clinicians will learn how to evaluate published research to ensure their practice is supported by the most robust evidence.
